Establishment of the company

The businessman Günther Bielfeldt returned from war, married his wife Elfi and together they founded BielfeldtBetriebe. This is what BB represents in the company logo.

People came with "Pott und Pann" (North German dialect for pot and pan) to finally be able to have a warm meal at home again. Due to the bad times, this meal was soon on everyone's lips and highly appreciated by the citizens of Hamburg, which is why it went down in Hamburg's town hall market history as "Friedensbrühe" (peace broth). It is no exaggeration to say that the pavilion of the BielfeldtBetriebe on the Rathausmarkt was one of the first, if not the first, independent supply start-up - in other words, Hamburg's quick meal parlour.

Rebuilding after the war

The view of our former pavilion in the direction of Mönckebergstraße in 1950. The war damage has been repaired, the square shines in new splendour - an impressive sight.

These photos were taken around 1950 and show our grandmother Elfi Bielfeldt at work in our shops. The interior today still - or again - looking modern!

Economic boom time in Hamburg

In the course of the years of the economic boom, more and more people became enthusiastic about the fresh sausage from the kettle or the pan topped with bacon, and we were able to welcome a large customer base of merchants, senators, mayors, Hamburg citizens and tourists.

Farewell to the oval pavilion

The Rathausmarkt is to be redesigned. Our BB-Express buffet has to say goodbye to the oval historic pavilion after 40 years. Until the new domicile was completed, our customers did not have to do without us, it continued with a sales trolley.

Re-opening on 5 May 1982

Finally we moved into the new pavilion: three years later, in 1985, we celebrated our 40th anniversary at this location.

More space for festivities

At the new location we can really get going. We celebrate many festivals here, such as the annual Oktoberfest with white sausage and beer, and our shop is beautifully decked out in the Bavarian colours of blue and white.

Currywurst on the go

Our CurryFlitzer (our mobile sales van) has been taking our sausage specialities everywhere since the early 2000s: At events, fairs, markets ... In fact, wherever our guests miss us.
